Product Certification CE

Product certification is one of the important tools for the placing of products on the EU single market.

Legislation European Union and its incorporation in Czech law set a range of requirements for manufacturers and importers and also states penalties for failure to comply. The main aim of the legislation is the safety of persons and animals and protection of the environment, especially the reduction of mechanical danger.

TÜV SÜD Czech acts in conformity assessment of products as accredited inspection body, as an accredited product certification body as well as the Notified Body of identification number 1017 (NB 1017).

Principles of CE marking

The CE marking symbolizes the conformity of the product with the applicable Community requirements imposed on the manufacturer.

The CE marking affixed to products is a declaration by the person responsible that:

  • the product conforms to all applicable Community provisions and
  • the appropiate conformity assessment procedures have been completed

Key EU Directives and Harmonized Standards

"EU directives" define the "essential requirements", e.g., protection of health and safety that goods must meet when they are placed on the market. Certification processes, documents and test required aas well procedures for proper placing products on the EU common market are given by EU Directives.

"Harmonized standards" are European standards, adopted by CEN, CENELEC or ETSI. Compliance with harmonized stadards published in the Official Journal and which have been transposed into national standards, provides prsumption of conformity to the corresponding essential requirements of the EC directives.

TÜV SÜD Czech Product Certification Services

The product certification is one of the important tools for launching a product into the single EU market. The European Union legislation and its implementation in the Czech system of law imposes quite a number of requirements on both manufacturers and importers. It also lays down sanctions for non-compliance. The main purpose of this legislation is the protection of persons and animals, as well as environment, i.e. especially through elimination of mechanical hazards.

As for the product conformity assessment, TÜV SÜD Czech acts as impartial accredited inspection body, accredited product certification body, and Notified Body 1017 (NB 1017).
