Nuclear power engineering

Nuclear power engineering and nuclear safety concern specifically designed selected devices manufactured for nuclear power engineering in the Czech Republic. Compared to conventional pressure equipment there is an extra requirement for the assessment of risk affecting nuclear and radiation safety in relation to the overall project of nuclear equipment.

Assessment of conformity of specifically designed selected devices is dealt with by Decree No. 309/2005 Coll. Together with related legal regulations the aforementioned Decree stipulates the obligations of concerned entities and specifies in greater detail the basic conditions for the method of determining specifically designed selected devices for nuclear equipment, defining technical requirements for safety of selected devices in production and in operation, application of procedures of assessment of conformity with technical requirements applied to specifically designed selected devices for nuclear equipment and methods of securing technical and nuclear safety of selected devices in operation.

The whole system is subject to related legal regulations, in particular Act. No.18/1997 Coll. on Peaceful Utilisation of Nuclear Energy and Ionizing Radiation and Decree No. 132/2008 Coll. on Quality System When Performing and Securing Activities Associated with the Utilization of Nuclear Energy and Radiation Activities and on Securing Quality of Selected Devices with Regard to their Inclusion in Safety Classes.
